Tbilisi
Our Georgian office acts in close coordination with our international arbitration team in Geneva. We mainly focus on disputes concerning international trade in commodities (agricultural products, crude oil, petroleum and gas products) and other related fields (shipping, finance, joint ventures, internal corporate disputes). We also provide transactional services in the same areas (reviewing and drafting trading and other contracts, shareholders and joint venture agreements, sanctions policies). We run multiple LCIA, LMAA, SCAI, SCC, ICC, ad-hoc and other arbitrations, as well as English Court proceedings. We have a growing investment arbitration practice.
Apart from international work, our Tbilisi office head, Rusudan Gergauli, is a Georgian-qualified lawyer with extensive experience in litigation in Georgian Courts and Georgian investment matters. Examples of our local matters include:
- Representing Middle Eastern investors in a variety of involving investments made by Middle Eastern entities into businesses and real estate projects located in Georgia.
- Serving as legal counsel for a Georgian road construction company embroiled in a high-value and complex legal dispute against a contractor under the framework of FIDIC Rules.
- Representing a client in a high-value M&A transaction involving the purchase of a Georgian supermarket chain.
- Representing a client in negotiations with the State of Georgia and oil terminals regarding the production of oil by a foreign entity on Georgian territory.
Apart from these high value matters, we can also provide regular transactional support on issues such as establishing business in Georgia, opening bank accounts, arranging accounting and other routine business support.
Our Georgian team speaks Georgian, English, Russian and Ukrainian.
