Fortior law has succeeded in an LCIA arbitration against a state-owned oil company recovering a substantial amount in damages and costs for its client, an oil trading company with offices in London and Geneva.

The claimant was represented by Giles Xuereb, Rusudan Gergauli and Erlan Moldoshev of Fortior Law. The state-owned company (respondent) was represented by Herbert Smith Freehills, who have replaced Quinn Emanuel following the initial award on liability made in claimant’s favour. The Tribunal consisted of Lord Jonathan Mance (chairman), Sir Bernard Rix and John McCaughran QC.
