Our Ukrainian office specialises in international commercial disputes (agricultural commodities, fertilisers, oil and gas, metals and coal). Our work in this field has been ranked by Legal500 since 2021 and since 2023 we have been consistently ranked as a top-10 international law firm in Ukraine by the Ukrainian Law Firms journal. In cooperation with our Swiss office, we have been named as one of the “firms to watch” in international arbitration by Legal500 and received the “Dispute Resolution Law Firm of the Year 2024/2025” by Global Corporate LiveWire.
We have an extensive track-record in Gafta and FOSFA arbitrations, as well as LCIA, LMAA and ad-hoc arbitrations. In cooperation with our London office, we represent clients before all levels of Courts in London in respect of interim measures such as worldwide freezing orders, enforcement and other issues. We also instructed in stand alone High Court matter. We are Gafta members, conduct seminars on the Gafta platform and contribute articles to industry journals such as GaftaWorld.
Ivan Lishchyna, the head of our Ukrainian office, is one of the top dispute resolution specialists in Ukraine. He is a former Deputy Justice Minister of Ukraine, in charge of international dispute resolution from the state. He was also a Ukrainian Government Agent before the European Court of Human Rights. In coordination with our London and Geneva offices, he regularly represents clients in LCIA, ad-hoc, Gafta, FOSFA and other arbitrations.
Apart from dispute resolution, we have substantial expertise in corporate, M&A, tax and customs matters in Ukraine. This part of our Ukrainian practice is led by Pavlo Moroz, who is also a former Deputy Justice Minister of Ukraine, and a former director of Tax and Legal Departments at two Big Four international audit firms in Ukraine.
Apart from high value matters, we can also provide routine support on issues such as establishing business in Ukraine, opening bank accounts, arranging accounting and other business support, advising on various matters of Ukrainian law.
